Generate Free Traffic By Tapping Into Current Events

Each of us loves free traffic coming to our sites. Whether we’re maintaining blogs, content sites with Adsense, or online stores, more traffic means higher revenue. If you have been using the search engine optimization strategies I’ve shown you in the past, you’re already building momentum in the organic ranks.

Today, I’m going to explain a slightly different approach to generating free traffic to your online properties. I’ll show you how to tap into the public’s insatiable hunger regarding current events and describe creative stopwatch How To Generate Free Traffic By Tapping Into Current Eventsways for maximizing its traffic potential. Chances are, you’re not fully leveraging this strategy yet. Let’s change that.

Where To Uncover Current Event Ideas

Your first step is to gather a few resources that will deliver a constant stream of current event ideas. Google Trends is one of the best. It is updated every minute and provides a bird’s eye view of most popular phrases people are using to search. Yahoo Buzz is another good resource, though it is updated a bit less frequently.

Because Twitter has become such a powerhouse traffic magnet lately, their Twitter Search is a valuable tool for mining current events. You’ll need to put a little more effort into it than you would for Google Trends or Yahoo Buzz. But, with millions of members who visit daily, you’ll uncover popular topics that would otherwise remain hidden.

Planting Search Engine Seeds

Now that you have an ongoing stream of current event ideas, you can quickly gain traction for popular keywords in Google and Yahoo. Google’s current ranking algorithm allows pages targeting popular phrases to climb the organic rankings quickly. While they haven’t admitted it publicly, it’s reasonable to assume the data from Google Trends is an influence on what they consider “popular.”

search engine seeds2 How To Generate Free Traffic By Tapping Into Current EventsThis is an opportunity to expand your search engine coverage. Create new pages or blog posts that target popular keywords.

For example, as of today, Google Trends reports that the phrase “American Idol voting controversy” has picked up steam. If you maintain a music-related blog, create a new post specifically targeting that phrase.

There is always a mountain of free search engine traffic generated from people searching for news about celebrities, sporting events, politicians, and similar topics. This is a way to tap into that traffic and cast your net wide.

Reserving Feeder Site Domain Names

Another part of Google’s ranking algorithm favors domain names that match searchers’ queries. While most perfect matches on longstanding topics have been reserved, there’s a pool of opportunity in current events that are just beginning to gain traction. That might include searches for new celebrities, movies, products, and controversies. It’s unlikely that domains matching newly popular phrases have been snatched. If you act quickly, you can reserve them.

Depending on the market you’re involved in, these matching domain names can be developed as feeder sites. The goal is to build them with relevant content and add them to your growing network. As the feeder sites rise in the organic rankings (based partially on their match), they’ll attract more search engine traffic which you can funnel toward your money sites.

Tapping into current events in order to generate search engine traffic is a powerful free internet marketing strategy. But, leveraging it properly takes effort. The good news is that this type of traffic exists perpetually. New topics become explosively popular on a daily basis. If you build a system for taking advantage of these topics, you can outflank the competitors in your search space and draw more people to your sites.

On-page Search Engine Optimization

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

lady1 On page Search Engine OptimizationI’ve always underlined the power of having great content. Your content should be a very interesting grapevine for the community of your chosen niche, and not a lifeless fact sheet. However, no matter how mouth-watering your content is, if there is nobody to read it, it won’t make you a cent. Traffic is the heart of your blog especially if you really want to make money with Google AdSense. In order to attract people, you must simply offer above average content. However, to get traffic onto your site, you have to think backwards. Where do people look when they need information? Of course they search using search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, to name just a few popular ones.

So, to attract these folks to your blog, your blog needs to rank high on search result pages of these search engines. When people search for information through the search engines and see your site among the top results, they will naturally click through to your blog! The art of getting your blog or website onto high rankings on search result pages is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

It could be quite a complex subject to master, but that doesn’t stop us from learning simple yet effective techniques to conquer the search results for certain keywords.Tougher techniques are usually needed to fight for very competitive and general keywords such as “make money”, but I’ll teach you how to overcome that later. For now, let’s determine the keywords that you want to optimize your site for. For instance, your blog says make money. Now, you’d want to check in Google whether it is a very competitive keyword. As of now, there are 227,000,000 search results. Do you think you can beat 227,000,000 sites at your first attempt? I doubt it.

Now, let’s try to narrow down our scope. Let’s look for “Make Money with Google AdSense” instead. Right now Google lists 3,440,000 results. That’s more manageable, but you’d like to search for more focused keywords. However, let’s optimize your blog to Make Money with Google AdSense just for the sake of learning.

SEO: Search Engine Optimization Bible On page Search Engine Optimization

First, you have to pay attention to the title of your blog. Since you’re optimizing to Make Money with Google AdSense you need to have that actual phrase in your blog title. For example, a line like “Learn How to Make Money with Google AdSense!” would work fine.

You can change the title of your blog in the Blogger control panel or the Wordpress blog when you’re creating it. If you’re proficient with HTML, you can even do that on other blog engines like Movable Type. What is the bottom line? Your page heading should also contain the term you’re optimizing for. Additionally, you should ‘sprinkle’ the words “Google AdSense” in your posts whenever possible.

The frequency of that phrase in your blog hints the search engines that your blog is really relevant to that topic. However, this is the most important bit of all. Always keep in mind that you’re writing for real life people who read your blog to obtain information, so it is very dumb to spam your blog with keywords! In fact, if you do that, the search engines will end up thinking you’re spamming and drop your ranking further down into oblivion. Hence write for humans, not search engines!

There’s no way you can make money online if you don’t value how SEO works!

How to Get Website Links

How to Get Website Links

Creating a winning website can take a lot of work and dedication to your website. You have to be able to set up your content management system if you’re using one, come up with an attractive layout, have graphics done, and fill it with content. If it’s an ecommerce site, you’ll need to set up a shopping cart and add pictures and product descriptions

Marketing the site is next step, because visitors are not likely to stumble onto your site by accident. And even if they did, there’s no guarantee that they would be interested in what you have to offer. Search engine optimization can help you get listed in Google and the others, but you also need to get links coming in from other websites if you want visitors.

Here are some reasons why:

* Links from relevant websites will bring you click-through traffic. It stands to reason that if someone visits a website with subject matter that is related to yours, they will likely be interested in what you have to offer.

* Links from other websites are seen as endorsements. In most cases, webmasters link to other sites because they like them or find them useful. Even in the case of link exchanges, few webmasters will trade links with a site they dislike. So when people see your link on someone else’s site, it looks like a vote of confidence.

* If you have a blog, incoming web links can get you increased visibility on sites such as Technorati. Technorati is a popular blog search engine and directory that ranks blogs by authority, a number that is directly connected to incoming links.

* Website links can help you get better rankings in standard search engines. When other sites link to a page on your site using a given keyword as anchor text, it helps you rank higher for that keyword. And the number of html links you receive from other sites helps your overall search engine positioning in the search engines.

Getting Web Links

Getting links to your website isn’t as difficult as you might think.

Here are some ideas:

* Link to your site from your social networking profiles such as twitter and facebook, and add links to your forum signatures.

* If you have other sites, link to your new site from them and place links with in your content of your site. From your own web pages of course.

* If you have an email newsletter, announce your new site to subscribers. If they like your other sites, they will probably visit, and they might choose to link to the new site on their own.

* Ask Bloggers you know to review your site and offer some sort of incentive for them linking to you.

* Email owners of related sites and ask if they would like to exchange links.

Incoming links can help you get your website noticed, and they can cut down on the need for paid marketing. These links can bring you both traffic and traffic from the search engines.

10 Ways to get Traffic to your site.

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

There are many ways to get traffic to a site and some of the older ways and those used by non experienced web site owners. Can cause detriment to a site and not bring any site traffic in if they continue to practice the wrong practices.

Yes, the same old non producing methods of getting traffic to a site will not work anymore in the new era of web 2.0. Some of the older methods include banner and lots of button ads that flash and light up distracting your eye from what’s important on the page. The constant pop ups that appear on every page trying to get you to sign up for something and those aggressive web rings which will do nothing but cause some sort of Google slap as the end result. And the end of these things is no traffic and worse yet you risk having your site taken down or temporary from the search engines like Google and Yahoo or permanently erased in the end.

Now that is not something that you wish to happen to your site, now do you?

So you ask. Well what are some techniques that will send laser  targeted traffic my site?

Here I am going to Show you 10 ways to get traffic to your site that is laser targeted.

Keywords- are one the main skill set you should develop when it comes to your site. Each page, folder name, title, content, etc should all be optimized with the correct keywords.
Contests- People love contests and if you have something that you can give away or something that would benefit your targeted audience. Invite them to your site and host a giveaway in exchange for them submitting something or whatever it is that you want them to do. If you do not have anything to promote or give away, network and find friends in your niche and ask them to joint venture with you in the contest. It will bring them traffic and you traffic also.
Podcast- Start a podcast in the niche you are in. People love to listen to things and enjoy coming back to a site when there are more things to do like podcasts to download and listen to in their car.
Forums- Continue with having your own forum. This will bring content to your site with all the included conversations and search engines love content.
Viral Marketing- Create a free special report on your topic that you feel is important. Give it away to some neighbor sites that you network with in exchange for a link on your site or mention in your newsletter. So that way their followers will soon know who you are. It is all about getting your name out their and establishing your self as an expert as much as you can.
Article marketing – Article promotion is one of the oldest techniques and still the best way to get incoming links to your site from related sites. By doing the work once and submitting to directories. You can see the benefit time and time again from your effort.
Design your site to be Seo Friendly- Choose a domain name with the keywords your site is tailored to. Use alt descriptions, Meta tag descriptions, header tag descriptions through out your content accordingly. Just by having a good domain name with keywords you will start to see website traffic coming in.
Directories- Submit your site to web directories, this will get your site listed quicker and also give you link love.
Signature files- Use your signature with links to your site in your blog posts, guest blog posts, forums etc.
Newsgroups- is something that will always bring traffic to a site, use them for promoting your self but only after you have made name for self within that expertise.

There you go 10 ways to get traffic to your web site.

Search Engine Optimization For Ask

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Optimizing your site for the web is one thing but optimizing your site to compete in each different search engine is another. We have already gone over the basics of optimizing your site for yahoo, and Google. Now what other huge sites could there be left to optimize for, you might ask.

Well Ask, of course is a major player as well when it comes to search traffic along with windows live lately and not to forget MSN. But right now we are going to cover some simple things that you could do to help raise your rankings in the search engine ASK.

Although it has not been around long and came in pretty late after all the other search engines it has still been able to hold its ground after much needed advertisements on TV and radio and print magazine features, So Ask has been able to carve its simple 3 letter image into the heads of online internet users.  And the one thing that you want for your site is for those users to be able to find your site, not only in Google and Yahoo but also in the smaller players as well like Ask.

To start with, Ask search engine optimization comes with the feel of being able to answer a question for their readership. They are looking for the how to information and the go to information when it comes to answering a question or solving a problem. Ask does not accept web site submissions but instead prefers to find your site through others linking to you.

Ask use what is called Expert Rank, an algorithm in which it places the importance of your site based on whether or not it is a hub or and authorities. Authority sites are those that are the leader in a community of similar sites teaching the same topic. One that has a whole lot of links pointing to them, Hub sites are those that are smaller in the same teaching community but has links pointing out to the larger authority sites. Ask puts sites in communities or clusters of sites and ranks them according to their importance or links. Not to say a hub will not rank high because many do, but in order for this to happen hub sites need at least some authorities sites linking back to them along with a natural progression of linking out to the higher sites.

Ask search engine is also pretty slow when it comes to indexing sites into there search engine, but the best thing to do Is work on getting links from those authorities sites by paying for links, or writing how to information that answers a question and list them in article directories. They do accept advertisements but if you pay for Google adwords your listing is also going to show in their advertisements.

So there you have it, the basic of seo for Ask, how to get indexed. Make sure if you missed part one on Search engine optimization for Google, and Yahoo. Just click on the links below.
