How to find Advertisers for your Blog

Finding  Advertisers For Your Blog

blog advertising1 How to find Advertisers for your BlogIf you want to make money from your blog, you need to plan how you intend to do it before you begin posting. Most bloggers spend an enormous amount of time and effort writing and marketing their blogs without giving any real thought to how they plan to monetize their work. That’s a mistake that leads to frustration.

There are a lot of different blogging revenue models. Today, I’m going to show you how to create a blog that advertisers will fight to claim space on. I’ll also explain how to find those advertisers and whet their appetite.

Stick To Your Niche

Years ago, sponsors wanted exposure to raw traffic. If you could deliver enough eyeballs, they wanted space on your blog. That’s changing. Advertisers are realizing that blogs that are tightly focused on their core topic may deliver fewer eyeballs, but the readers are far more targeted. As a result, sponsors enjoy higher conversions. Pick your niche and stick to it.

Say Goodbye To Adsense

Adsense can be a fantastic way to generate income from your blog. Unfortunately, it can also become an obstacle to growing your advertising revenue down the road. First, it’s too easy to rely on Adsense as your primary blogging income. That makes it hard to wean yourself from it. Second, it lowers the perceived value of your advertising spots. A small 1-ad or 2-ad block may be fine, but multiple 4-ad Adsense blocks can make your blog seem unprofessional to potential advertisers.

Targeted Search Traffic Is Key

Blogs are especially well-suited for attracting organic search traffic. Before you begin writing blog posts, identify the keywords that are being searched most often by your audience. Include those keywords in your titles, tags, and throughout your content. Once your blog begins ranking for them, you can show potential advertisers who want to reach your audience.

For example, suppose that you maintain a blog that is focused on mountain bikes. Let’s further suppose that, after some effort, you rank in the top 3 on Google for the keyword “discount hardtail mountain bikes.” Hundreds of businesses that sell hardtail mountain bikes would love exposure to that search traffic through advertising on your blog.

Create An Advertising Package

For potential sponsors who find your blog (as opposed to your approaching them), create a page that provides the information they need to make a decision. For example, list your available ad space sizes, advertising rates, traffic stats, and visitor demographic data. Include the number of RSS readers, notable search rankings, and even Alexa information. By providing these details, you’ll make it easy for sponsors to contact you to reserve ad spots.

Approach Smaller Advertisers First

If you’re just starting your blog, you probably won’t be able to attract the largest companies in your space. Start with the smaller companies and offer lower rates. Even though you’ll generate less advertising revenue in the beginning, you can raise your rates as your traffic grows. Over time, the smaller sponsors will be replaced by larger sponsors at much higher rates.

Don’t wait until you have hundreds of readers to plan your blog revenue model. Think about how you want to generate income as you’re creating your blog. If you choose to pursue the advertising revenue model, plan to attract direct sponsors in lieu of Adsense. There are many popular blogs which generate six-figure incomes through private advertisers. With time, effort, and planning, you can join their ranks.

Build A Bigger Online Business By Going Niche

Bigger Online Business By Going Niche

Online marketers are driven by the thought of generating large amounts of money with their businesses. The problem is that their vision is often too broad. For example, they may be tempted to create a general site niche marketing Build A Bigger Online Business By Going Nicheabout “health,” “cars,” or “sports.” A decade ago, that would have worked. Today, large brands are dominating their space and they have the war chest to beat back their competitors.

You must focus on niches. By doing so, you can carve out your territory more easily, speak directly to your audience, and gradually build your business to dominate small sectors. So, unless private investors have given you $10 million with which to build the next About.com, let’s talk about “going niche.”

Carving Out Your Territory

It is far easier to compete in smaller verticals than vying for attention as a general site. First, Google likes focused properties. Their algorithms - both organic and paid search - take the focus of your site into account when ranking your pages or determining your minimum bids.

For example, let’s suppose that you want to build a site about cars. The most potent search engine optimization strategies will not lift your pages to the top organic spots without your domain having significant age and authority. A good example of such a site is Edmunds.com.

On the other hand, let’s suppose you’re building a site about car parts for Honda sedans (a niche). You’ll fare much better in Google’s organic and paid listings. Their algorithms will note the tight focus of your site and rank your pages accordingly. While you’ll never be number one for “cars,” (without a hefty war chest), you can quickly carve out your territory by ranking for niche keywords.

Once you do, you’ll find the audience you attract is much easier to convert.

Speaking To Your Audience

The more targeted your niche, the easier it will be to speak directly to your audience. That results in a higher conversion rate. Whether you’re selling information products, blogging with an up-sell to a coaching program, or generating Adsense revenue, the more tightly segmented your audience, the better. Segmentation lets you directly address your customers’ needs. In effect, it allows you to continue the conversation that is already going on in their mind. There lies the path to higher conversions.

For example, let’s suppose you’re selling an ebook about weight loss. There are a lot of competing information products. If you cannot differentiate your ebook from the rest of the pack, your audience will have other options. Those options will lower your sales. But, let’s suppose your ebook is geared toward women who would like to lose weight immediately following childbirth. Your audience will be smaller, but they’ll have a specific need that you can address. As a result, your sales will naturally increase.

Building Your Online Empire

One of the advantages of “going niche” with your online business is that it perfectly builds the framework for expansion. By moving into related verticals, you can take advantage of your first niche’s momentum.

Let’s return to our “weight loss after childbirth” ebook example. Your customers will likely be interested in related topics. This is a perfect opportunity to expand your business. Ebooks about “nutrition after childbirth” and “fitness after childbirth” will probably sell well. Each ebook should be supported by its own site. By linking your growing portfolio of related sites, Google’s ranking algorithms will note their similar topics. As a result, each of your sites will enjoy an authority boost.

We’ve touched upon a number of marketing strategies and concepts in today’s post. Most are secondary to the main point: if you want to compete and build a bigger business, go niche. Your customers will thank you, Google will like you, and your bank account will show the results.

Tips on Choosing Effective Marketing Content

5 Tips for Choosing Effective Marketing Content

Content marketing is the best way to get information to your clients or customers. This is also the perfect way to gain the trust of your customers and increase your sales. The problem is choosing the most effective type of content and presenting it in an attention getting manner. Here are some tips on choosing the most effective content for your content marketing.

1. Point out the competition’s mistakes. People, in general, want to avoid painful experiences as much as possible. Pointing out all the ways your competitors fail to make life easier for your potential customers works to your advantage. Top ten lists on this kind of thing such as “10 most common mistakes” or “10 things you don’t want to do” are especially effective in driving people to you, rather than your competitor. I’m not saying you should specify or point fingers at specific competitors here. That’s not professional. Instead, use general statements and point out what makes your company better than others.

2. Give out industry “secrets.” They are not really secrets but if you let people think they are then their trust in you grows. Create content with bulleted lists showing how to do things faster and easier or how to make something work better. People love lists about things because lists are easy to filter through and pick out those points that pertain to them specifically. They also help people retain the information.

3. Organize it for them. One of the biggest hurdles for some people is the organization of certain things. Do the work for them by giving them plans and ways to organize things to make their life simpler. If you can make something straightforward and easy for someone, they will appreciate it and repay you with their business.

4. Answer common questions. When you’re discussing a common problem or situation, people tend to have the same questions. By providing the answers before someone even asks the questions, you make them feel more comfortable. It gives them the impression your company truly cares about them and their needs because you’ve taken the time to learn what they want or need.

5. Latest trends reports. This is a way to help your clients and customers keep up to date with the latest information from your company. This type of content lists the newest information or technologies and explains them in an easy to understand fashion.

Effective content marketing is all about continually giving the client or customer whatever information they deem useful. It demonstrates to prospects your company is paying attention to the needs of their clients and responding in an resourceful and expeditious manner. If the frequency and/or quality of information begins to slow down, your client base will begin to find another source of information, taking their sales dollars with them.

Making use of a freelance writing service is a good way to fulfill the needs of consistent and effective content writing. By using writers to help create your content, you can easily continue to provide fresh, new content. Once you have the articles, reports and other documents, offer them to your customers freely through email or a blog. Not only will your customers thank you in replies and comments but, more importantly, with their continued loyalty.

How To Promote Your Blog Through Social Networking

Promote Your Blog Through Social Networking

Most of us want to generate traffic to our blogs. Unless you’re blogging solely for your friends and family, you’ll want to attract as many readers as possible. The more traffic you generate, the more success you’ll have in generating income from your blog.

Today, I’m going to explain how you can promote your blog through the top social networking sites. These social media How To Promote Your Blog Through Social Networkingsites give people a chance to meet and interact with others who share their interests. Keep in mind social networking sites are not all created equal; some of them hold far more potential to drive traffic than others.

Promoting Your Blog On Facebook

As you probably know, Facebook is the 800 lb. gorilla of social networking. Not only do millions of people connect daily with their friends on the site, but constant media coverage ensures it remains in the public eye. Their popularity works to your advantage.

There are several ways to promote your blog on Facebook. For example, you can create a Facebook Page. Attract “fans” to your Page by updating it with articles, short posts, and pictures. Each time you update your Page, your fans are notified. You can include links to your blog in each segment that you post.

You can also create a Facebook Group that focuses on your blog’s topic. A lot of Facebook members search for Groups that discuss the topics they’re interested in. As a community builds around your Group, new and returning members will see a link to your blog positioned prominently at the top.

Driving Traffic From Other Social Networking Sites

So far, we’ve focused on Facebook because of its enormous popularity. There are several social networking sites that you should use to promote your blog. They work on the same general principle: people with the same interests interacting with each other.

StumbleUpon generates a lot of traffic to blogs by encouraging their members to “Stumble!” them. When members view a page they enjoy, they submit it to StumbleUpon to share it with other members. This site is powerful enough that Firefox created a browser extension that lets members “Stumble!” sites with a single click.

BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog are social networking sites which are specifically focused on helping bloggers promote their blogs. You can form groups with people who are interested in your blog’s subject matter and encourage them to tell others in their network. The more readers you attract to your profile and group, the more traffic you can send to your blog.

Other powerful social networking sites include MySpace, LinkedIn, Digg, and Twitter. Even though Facebook has become more popular, MySpace still has an enormous community. By creating a profile and linking to your blog, you can generate a steady stream of traffic. Twitter is one of the newer social networking sites. You can post short “tweets” for your followers, whet their appetite for more, and send them to your latest blog post.

Set Aside Time To Socialize

One of the keys to promoting your blog successfully on any of the social networking sites is to get involved within your communities. For example, if you’re using Facebook for blog promotion, update your Page often and interact with members of your Group. Ideally, you should set aside time to socialize every day. The more you interact with others in the communities you establish, the more likely they’ll be to visit your blog.

Don’t think of social networking as your primary blog promotion strategy. Instead, consider it one of many effective internet marketing techniques. You should also be using search engine optimization strategies to drive traffic. As an added bonus, most of the social networking sites I’ve described above allow you to link directly to your blog. There’s no redirect which siphons the link juice.

If you haven’t gotten involved yet, take a few minutes to explore social networking. You may be surprised by the traffic it can send.

Willie Crawford Pictures From the Birthday Bash

I recently got back from Willie Crawford 50th Birthday Bash/ Internet Marketing Convention.  The bash was held here in my hometown of Orlando, fl.  Which was great because within a period of two months I have been able to meet some awesome people and really form some great friendships.

The line up was pretty decent of the speakers that spoke during the whole weekend. Some people include Sam Crowley of Everyday is Saturday, Ron Davies once again teaching making some real money w/ aggregated content. Lynn terry was there discussing affiliate marketing and how she became a super affiliate.  She gave some really great tips, which I am sure the audience just gobbled it all up. I know this because soon after she  was finished speaking. She was bomb rushed with people wanting more information.  Great speaker indeed!

I got to meet Bob the Teacher, we hung out after hours with Nicole and Lynn and discussed a lot of things in internet marketing. That was to cool, being able to hang out with bob, Lynn, Nicole, Felicia, Sam all at the Sam table.  I will never forget that.

Nicole and I have known each other quiet some time now, but this was the first time we actually met in person.  She is a dear soul indeed, full of life and passion really wanting to serve and help others.  A knack for seeing visions and seeing them through.  Lynn terry is someone that is really down to earth and really cool to hang out with.  My hand’s were shaking when we met and had a lunch together, but when the night hit it was as if we had been friends forever.  I also  Met Tracy another partner in Mom masterminds, which is a internet marketing group for work at home moms wanting to learn about business. We had so much fun and learned a lot.

Anyhow enough of me rambling on. Below are some of the pics from Willie Crawford convention.
