Self-Awareness by Larry Lloyd

Most individuals have the necessary physical abilities to achieve success, however several do not possess the necessary emotional or cognitive skills. When a person?s self esteem grows their emotional IQ or EQ and willingness to make life changes increases as well.

Cognitive Restructuring has the ability to help those who are suffering from these problems: * Phobias * Childhood abuse * Lack of goals * Loneliness * Lack of ambition * Broken relationships * Lack of hope * Procrastination * Fear * Decision making * Worry * Compulsions * Self betrayal * Depression * Coping * Hate/vengeance * Stress * Rejection * Self control *Anger * Self esteem * Insecurity * Divorce * Lack of empathy * Suicidal thoughts * Grieving * Co dependency * Drug addiction * Failing grades *Alcohol addiction * Eating disorders

The very first and most important step to take to overcome the above problems and the highest hurdle to self improvement is self deception. Those who live in the box of self-deception other people for their problems. Humans do not understand that the most difficult problem they have to overcome in life is the battle with themselves. If you’re unhappy and unsuccessful Are you the one to blame? The following six steps are a necessary for self-improvement. There are no shortcuts and they must be accomplished in order. The most valuable tool to help people leave the old damaging behaviors behind is Manualized Cognitive Restructuring . This has the ability to help individuals overcome thinking errors and behaviors.

One of the psychological dissimilarities between humans and animals is that humans are capable of being self aware. That is, they know how to see and accept they have faults and weaknesses. With self awareness humans can become better and change their lives. Changing habits, values, attitudes and behavior is a difficult thing to do. For instance, if you wish to change a hardened criminal into an upright citizen the change must come from within the criminal. Criminals must accept responsibility for their behavior. If they remain in denial they will never improve. To successfully help criminals, you must first help them become self-aware. This ?making them aware” process is referred to as reality therapy. You cannot compel people to become better, however, you can compel them to become self-aware. Abide by these steps to make a change in your life. There are no shortcuts.

Step #1- AWARENESS Self-awareness is the initial step in improving yourself. It is necessary that you accept your faults. You cannot change without becoming self-aware.

Step #2- DESIRE If you don?t want to improve, you will not ever do it. You have free will and, therefore, can’t be forced. You have freedom to choose. It is up to you; it’s your choice. No desire,no change.

Step #3- ATTITUDE If you’re aware of your faults and wish to improve you will automatically lift your attitude. It?s your choice.

Step #4- SKILL Although they are vital, self-awareness, desire and a positive attitude aren’t quite enough; you must also develop the skills and knowledge of how to change, wanting to is not enough.

Step #5- BEHAVIOR Master steps one through four and you’re prepared physically to do what is required. Do it for ninety days and they’ll be a habit. Do it for a year and they will become part of you.

Step #6- SUBCONCIOUS As soon as you acquire a habit, it becomes automatic. You don?t have to think about it anymore; you’ve changed. Great!

Keep doing what you’ve always done and you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten. If you desire to change the outcome, you are required to change what you’ve been doing in the past. The primary step in changing bad habits is to overcome denial, bad scripting and faulty thinking? The only way to achieve this is through following the above 6 steps.
